Many people don't think about nighttime being a good time to do photography since there's a lack of light. However, armed with knowledge about your camera's settings and the properties of light, nighttime photography can be a lot of fun.

In this meetup, you'll learn about the best camera settings for nighttime photography. We'll also explore the kinds of light available to us and how to use that light to make some awesome photos. As always, there are exercises that will help you put your new knowledge to work.

This piece is very sentimental. Two years ago, a friend had just lost her 22 year old daughter unexpectedly. She asked me to draw her daughter's favorite, a sunflower. It happens to be mine as well. ?Sunflowers at Night? 202218 inches by 24 inchesChalk pastels and acrylic markers on black paper

Bella belongs to a friend who commissioned me to do this piece. I feel it shows the personality of Golden Retrievers perfectly. Bella's favorite toy is a tennis ball, and her face is pleading with you to throw it one more time!

Title or Location: Saint Chapelle Church
This church is known as the kings church so only the king and the queen would be on the second floor receiving private catholic servicesThe windows are glorious and I choose a panel of an angel speaking privately to the monarchy The frame was painted to match the pillars on both floors, the crown, flues-de-lis designs and colors. Staying with the gothic representation I chose to mimic the rise window of Notre Dame in the upper part of the piece. It was created on silk cut to match the fr

Title or Location: Morning Preparations in the Upstate Mountains
This was painted with a studio model and friend in the upstate in SC.. not far from Asheville, NC. Over the course of months and years it has undergone many changes- like a repainting of the hand holding the clip, background color from green to red and a shrinking from horizontal to square?.&127912&10084&65039&128540

In this painting I wanted to convey the intensity of the fox's stare - that something has caught his eye and he is standing perfectly still watching it! I am always intrigued with how light hits a subject - this is why I love using oil paints as you can get such a depth of colour (I layer up the colours) and then the last few brushstrokes are the highlights and that is when the magic happens!

Title or Location: Lucy
This is Lucy, one of our favorite family dogs. She is the sweetest pooch and loves to ride in the car, windows opened. She is in her glory as her ears catch the wind and almost smiles. I tried to capture her wonderful nature in this watercolor painting. I used very heavy pigment to give detail to her fur. I so love the many styles watercolor allows you to create. It is one of my favorite paintings because, I Love Lucy:)

Title or Location: Adventure Awaits
This scene is from an early morning boat ride in New Hampshire - we had been here a couple of times over the last few years. It was so quiet and the water so still . The early morning fog had not lifted and people were still not stirring. I snapped a photo when I saw this scene with the colorful leaves framing the waiting boats. I knew I would paint this one day. It?s a 24 x 30 gallery wrapped oil painting. It can be seen at the Elizabethan Gallery.

This is a detail style (aka meticulous style) painting done on a sized shuen paper known as glass paper. Sumi ink and a small brush are used to draw the outlines and a layer of ink washes are added for shading. Then multiple layers of Chines colors are added until the colors reach the intensity you want.
