My ?learn to paint loose and expressive? class was supposed to be outdoors, but due to bad weather, James, our instructor surveyed our group with options, and we decided to move the class indoors. I?ve been painting for years, but I have always struggled with loosening up my painting. James was fantastic. I was able to understand his methods. Especially blocking out my composition keeping the values in mind. It helped me to not focus on details, but rather the values, balance, and negative space in my intended composition more. I found it very helpful. I look forward to your more classes.

I learned a lot but not having a room to sit and work is not comfortable at all. The instructor had to continuously circulate to work with us individually. We were scattered preventing us being able to discuss and demonstrate skills as a group. We would have learned more if someone's question was answered as a group. The instructor was very good at working with us but feel we could have achieved more in a group setting.

The information was really helpful but the environment wasn't so great. We sat on the floor. Not a big deal if you are young but not easy as a 61 year old.

ARTISTS
Lisa Womack
Lisa Womack is an artist concentrating on painting Habotai silk using silk dye. She lives with her husband of more than 25 years and two sons in Easley, South Carolina. Lisa received a BA in Fine Art from Lander University. She began using acrylics and water based oils on canvas. Naturally, honing and developing her skills included delving into new mediums. Lisa discovered a love for working with the luxurious beauty of Habotai silk. Influenced by the light and vibrant colors of stained glass, her work often displays beautiful jewel toned colors. Another characteristic found in Lisa's designs are patterns from the natural creation around her. She is inspired by the intelligent design of plants, rock formations, and animals. Her hope is that her art adds beauty that uplifts, edifies, and encourages those it touches.

?Sparkle: The Huntress?Textured Acrylic on Canvas30? x 40? x 2?This painting began with an ordinary moment at home. My cat, Sparkle, was sitting on my piano, completely captivated by a tiny bug outside the window. I snapped a quick photo with my phone and immediately fell in love with the dramatic backlighting and the intensity of her gaze. When I later looked at the image, I realized she no longer looked like a house cat at all. In my imagination, Sparkle became a wild huntress hidde

I had been stressing out about the current geopolitical environments and yet, I looked at my young grandchildren who continue to find joy. I realized that one of the best ways to rebel against darkness is to choose to dance anyway. When there is pain on our doorstep, we sing anyway. Whatever talent we possess, we use it to create anyway. Like the musicians on the Titanic, we just keep going with what we do best. And above all else, we choose LOVE anyway.

This painting is my newest completed work and is a 30?x24? acrylic on gallery canvas. It is a depiction of a fantasy landscape that is both steeped peace and yet also alive with energy and an awareness that everything is connected as one pulse, one hum. As with all my paintings over the last couple of years, the divine is present through the triangles and repetitions of threes and the number ?143? is the representation of ?I Love You? and a reminder that we are always divinely loved and protecte

When I was a child, my father was a tropical fish breeder. I grew up watching and a learning about many of the different types. Watching the eggs develop into stunning, beautiful fish. This is the 5th betta fish I have painted and plan to do more as they are fun to paint and I love the finished result.

I?m Linda Hanf Kriegel, a self-taught artist living in Easley, South Carolina on our 50-acre property, On Golden Creek Farm. I began painting in acrylics last year after a local business requested a 4? ? 5? commission.Having mostly worked in dry media such as pastels, graphite, and colored pencil, I knew a piece that large would be difficult and extremely expensive to mat, frame, and place under glass. So I purchased a canvas and began working in acrylic paints. The finished piece was well r

Title or Location: Playful Parrot
?Playful Parrot? is a mischievous little character, full of curiosity and charm. I chose him because I wanted to explore how much personality I could convey through expression alone. This piece was my first subtractive oil painting as an art student, inspired by the methods of the old masters. The process felt natural and rewarding, and he still brings a smile to my face every time I walk by.

I loved this photograph from John Strachan photography and finally got around to painting it in acrylic. I tried to be quite loose with the painting as there was so much detail. in the end I thought the sky looked a bit bare so with the help of Chat GPT I added seagulls to the photo and was then able to paint them into my art work. This painting will be heading for the Aberdeen art show the end of August for sale.

I am Tracey, a self-taught artist from Plymouth, UK, I have been developing my coloured pencil techniques for the past year . My aim is always to capture not only the likeness of an animal but also the personality and spirit that make them so special to the people who love them.In this piece, Colin is shown resting amongst a vibrant meadow of wildflowers, his striking green eyes drawing the viewer in.
